The Beginning of SlowSEO.com

After several years in the website making business I had never been able to say: “Wow, I’ve reached my 1.000th visitor today”. I have made several websites, but never paid much attention to ranking, visitor stats and click through rate (CTR), basically neglecting SEO or ‘Search Engine Optimization’.

The Beginning of SlowSEO.com

Now, at a stupid, drunken moment late at night I was reading into the subject and through some crazy idea I ended up buying an Adsense-Ready website. I reckoned: “Hey, I get loads of good articles, a search engine optimized site structure, and if I choose a good domain this might really work”. So I bought a good domain, submitted the lot to mayor search engines and started spamming directories and forums.

In the first two weeks it went ok and my spamming was paying off. I was receiving visitors and some of them clicked my ads. But as my spamming continued and Google indexed more of my site, I saw my search engine listing greatly decline. At one point, my own website wouldn’t even show up if I searched on my domain name. Instead other sites linking to me would win from me and I ended up on page 3.

At this point I knew I had made a mistake in buying this Adsense-Ready web package. And the reason why these kind of websites don’t work is that Google isn’t crazy. Google has probably been on the web longer than you have and it knows when it’s getting fooled.
These Adsense-Ready websites are being sold to a lot of suckers out there, resulting in loads of websites with exactly the same content.
And as Google spiders more and more of your search engine optimized site it finds more and more of this content that it has found on a lot of other websites. Google punishes you for this and lowers your ranking.

I learned the hard way and this article is the forefront of my next money-making project, which I hope is going to work. I will reach good page ranks (PR), get a lot of visitors, establish a high CTR and hopefully have fun in the Search Engine Optimization process.
I am not going to fool Google, I am just going to create a content rich website, with a search engine optimized and user friendly design and navigation.

This process is going to be slow, but by striving to add one article a day, a steady, rich, updated and hopefully useful website will be produced. Resulting in high Pageranks and many visitors, given enough time.
