Wordtracker and KW-Discovery launch new Tool. Right on Time!

Timing is key on the internet and this new move from Wordtracker is pretty smart. They just launched their free keyword tool nicely filling in the niche Overture has so suddenly vanished from.

The tool is located here.

Go and check it out, before you read my view on the data they're providing.

UPDATE: Also KeywordDiscovery has launched a new keyword research tool. More on this tool inside aswel.

Wordtracker and KW-Discovery launch new Tool. Right on Time!

If you've sneaked a peak at Wordtrackers new keyword tool, you'll notice that it returns 100 results just like Overture did (and sometimes still does).

Nothing better here.

But, the big improvement compared to Overture is that it does NOT scramble keyword order and does not filter out plurals.

The only thing is that Wordtacker is compiling their data from two sources (Dogpile.com and Metacrawler.com) and these two sites only handle 0.63% off all searches done on the internet. The values Wordtracker presents are therefore extremely extrapolated.

Overture does skew their results aswell, but has a larger pool to gather data from.

Another difference is that Wordtracker updates their database every day, but nicely shows a searchvolume average fo the last two months. This way they flatten out peaks on keywords that might not be used that often, but suddenly see an increase because the Daily News covered a story on the topic
Overture compiles their searchvolume every month (don't know if two is better than one month) and thereby flattens out these peaks aswel, but then screws it up by changing some search volumes to increase their PPC profit.

Anyway, I think this is a great move by Wordtracker and I'm happy to see that somebody is punishing Yahoo! for their sloppy behaviour.

Good job Wordtracker!

UPDATE: Also KeywordDiscovery is jumping in

Also keyworddiscovery has released a free keyword tool.
Interesting to see that whenever a niche is opened up there are many clever people right on top of it.

The results this tool gives are great and are collected from a larger portion of the Search Engines out there. Also Search volume is not broken down into days but show the monthly searchcount.

Haven't decided wich one is better yet. For the keyword 'SEO' I already see differences at possition 4 in the list.

I'll do a detailed comparative research on these keyword research tools as soon as possible. In the mean time I suggest you test/use them both and please post a message about your findings.

Aha, Captcha on board!

This news is so fresh, Wordtracker isn't even ready yet:

15 minutes ago I didn't need a CAPTCHA code to get data, now suddenly, I need to enter one.

They might be feeling the heat off some lurkers out there allready building scripts to cache their data.
I must admit, I was one of them.

KW discovery is being overloaded

I'm getting a "500 Internal Server Error" at KeywordDiscovey. They probably didn't entisipate the huge amount of traffic these tools generate.

KeywordDiscovery is starting to lok a little bit like Overture.
