Doorway Page
Doorway pages are designed to attract search engine users to land on the page using a certain searchword or phrase, but then redirecting or showing a different page. The usually use a technique called
cloaking. Doorway pages are forbidden by search engines and new indexing techniques have proven to filter them out. Using doorway pages can get your site banned from the search engines. Doorway pages are easily identified as they are designed for search engines and not for humans. By using the ‘cache’ function in Google one can easily see how search engines indexed a page. If this page is different from how you see it naturally you can identify
cloaking, or a so-called Doorway page. Some Doorway pages use
Javascript redirect to send users to a different page.
