Link Text is the clickable text of a hyperlink. Anchor Text is the same and has a more detailed explanation on this site. For Image Links the Alt Text has the same function as Link Text. IF someone has images turned of in their browser or if they are blind the Alt Text will be used as a hyperlink. Therefore Search Engines also spider Alt Texts and add them to their Index.
